Siemens
Award
The
Siemens award will take place on the afternoon of the 13th November.
Rules
All
ACB members who are currently employed in the Wales regions at
the closing date for abstract submissions are eligible to participate.
Preference will be given to ACB members who have not yet completed
their training for MRCPath and members who have submitted their
dissertation for MRCPath within 12 months prior to the closing
date for abstract submissions.
Oral presentation
Participants
will be given 15 minutes to make their presentation and a further
5 minutes for questions.
Relevant topics which will be considered include:
1. original science relevant to clinical biochemistry
2. clinical case presentation
3. clinical or laboratory audit
Criteria for judging oral presentations
Higher
weighted criteria
All or a substantial part should be the participant's own work
Other criteria
1.
Oral presentation
a. Clear and interesting delivery
b. Careful timing
c. Good audio-visual aids
2. design of study (if applicable)
3. understanding and own interpretation of results
a. data interpretation and conclusions drawn
b. ability to discuss the project and answer questions
